- What is a sealant? A sealant is a resin
coating applied to surface of a tooth to help prevent against
tooth decay. Deep pits and fissures are common areas for
cavities to form. Sealants are generally applied during
adolescence years when kids are most prone to picking up
cavities. Sealants act as barriers which block the crevices
and pits in teeth preventing decay causing bacteria from
living there. Sealants are very inexpensive, are painless, do
not involve shots and may be the best investment you can make
for your kids teeth.
